| Notes for Arthur VAN SOMEREN |
Vansom.ged201208. (appears in 1871 census living with mother at 1, St George's Terrace, St Andrew, Plymouth)
The writer of the account of tracing the van Someren title in Holland.
From Arthur Evans Wolff's autobiography :
"A third was Arthur, a likeable 'rolling-stone' character. He also lived in Sydney (Australia) at one time and married a girl from Killara before returning to England. He had odd religious beliefs of his own devising, and in his later years be came a convinced flat-earthist, rejecting all evidence to the contrary."
Jay (Juliet) Wolff recalls that this flat-earthist belief was supported, at least in part, by a literalist reading of the King James translation of Isaiah 40:5 ". . the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together . . " |
